Research and (Meta-)Learning

Fiadnata October 31, 2018 October 31, 2018Uncategorized 0

This site is dedicated to helping me organize my research, particularly the many research articles I have found over the years. It’s also going to be a learning experience for me on how to share the information I have accumulated in Mendeley with a larger audience than just that research…

  • An introduction to My Interests and Research Areas

I am Baroness Fiadnata ó Gleann Àlainn, OP, active within the Society for Creative Anachronism since A.S. IX. My main area of interest is Arts & Sciences Administration — I have served as a local, regional and deputy Kingdom officer (or as a resource point for my local and regional officers) since A.S.XXVII/1993. Currently, I am the RUM Librarian, a deputy to the Chancellor of the Royal University of the Midrealm, with the charge of encouraging everyone to bring their research resources to events where I will display them for the day and let others browse them.

My special area of research interest is fiber arts, and extends back to the history of spinning and weaving within the ancient world, and how those experiences shape fiber arts practices in the medieval world. Currently, I am researching fiber preparation and spinning for both wool and flax, weaving and the history of looms, and tablet weaving. Mundanely, I am a reference librarian at a research library.
